ABOUT

Inspired by funky sounds and grooves from the 80s yet sculpted into a 21st century unique sound, Thomas Nan is blazing through Spotify playlists and radioshows with his quality productions. Receiving steady support from no other than Martin Garrix, Sam Feldt, Tiësto, Nicky Romero, Hardwell, The Chainsmokers, Laidback Luke and Dutch radio stations Radio 538 and SLAM.fm indicate Thomas Nan is more than ready to make his mark on 2021!

2020 was filled with notable musical highs for the self taught DJ/producer. His twelve releases, varying from an official remix for Lulleaux & Strobe - Limbo, personal gem Homeless and the well received remix for Keanu Silva - Troubles were just a prelude to what Thomas had planned for 2021. His first release of this year was a huge personal milestone: an official remix for Laidback Luke - Dance It Off. But, no rest for the wicked since Thomas dropped Don't Know Me together with Max Vermeulen a mere month later! All his tracks have a signature sound to them that is typically Nan, but more importantly, they contain an undeniable catchiness you can only hear in Thomas’ releases.

With musical inspiration reaching beyond dance genres, modern day influences from The Weeknd and Dua Lipa are mixed with an eclectic grooviness you can only find in the 80s. Blending these influences with Thomas his own creativity creates a sound that is not only main-stage material but also 100% radio ready.

In hindsight, 2019 productions like Neighborhood, Left Alone - both on Soave Records - or the future house Feel It on Panther’s Groove already displayed Thomas Nan’s skills in the studio. While his signature sound has evolved, all tracks showcase stellar production skills and boost that recognisable funky Thomas Nan flavour.

Thomas got an early taste of what it was like to spin in a big club when he was still in high school. Starting out in Amsterdam’s renowned club De Melkweg his first DJ set was a fact back in 2014. Add to this his most recent appearances in Sam Feldt’s Goodbye 2020 celebration and Insomniac pres. Laidback Luke & Friends liveset, it shows that Thomas is enjoying every minute behind the decks. Making an energetic connection with his audience is important to him and not only when he is DJing. His online following is a daily growing dedicated fanbase who connect and relate with Thomas on a very personal level. These personal qualities define him as an artist making him unique in a very humble and down to earth way.

Like many great musical narratives Thomas his story started in his bedroom fooling around with some production programs. Being heavily influenced by his older brother, who listened to Avicii and the Swedish House Mafia, at the age of 14 Thomas quickly realised creating music was something else. It sparked something inside him. Regular school assignments seemed useless when there was so much to explore in the realm of music production and DJ-ing. The next logical step? Skip the usual path laid out for boys his age and pursue his musical dreams. Working hard in his home studio got him accepted onto the renowned Herman Brood Academy in The Netherlands. In the years that followed he worked on his personal style and skills before eventually graduating in 2020. Hungry for more knowledge, Thomas is now enrolled at the conservatory in Haarlem (NL) which educates him further to become an even more evolved and skilled producer.

When you combine Thomas Nan’s production skills with his creative musical mind and top it off with an engaging personality on and off stage, you look at the future of the dance industry. Receiving huge support from influential colleagues on his releases that boost a unique groovy signature sound, Thomas Nan his story is not just unfolding - it is quickly becoming a pageturner you don’t want to put down!
